The LDV Convoy is a panel van which was manufactured by LDV Limited between 1997 and 2006.
Leyland DAF sold off of the van business in 1993 and LDV Limited was formed. This newly independent company decided to rename the 400 van the LDV Convoy.
The Convoy was available in variants of 2.8 tonnes, 3.1 tonnes and 3.5 tonnes. It came with load volume capacities up to 12.9 cubic metres.
There is just one engine available in the LDV Convoy, a 2.5-litre unit offering 72bhp at 4,000 rpm. In 2002, the engine unit was upgraded to 2.4-litre Ford Duratorq.
The Convoy van was a hugely popular minibus and also came in pick-up and fleet based vans.
The van was hugely popular with schools, the Royal Mail and Police forces.
The last LDV Convoy was built in 2006 and has now been succeeded by the LDV Maxus.
The LDV Convoys cab is not the most lavish but does come with seats which are comfortable, a radio/cassette player as standard, cup holders and large door bins in both sides.
The Convoy was built as a workhorse and little else, so anyone who expects charming road manners and comfort is likely to be disappointed.
The pros for the LDV Convoy is that it is a solid product which is both cheap to buy and cheap to run, however, the cons for this vehicle is that it is very basic and unrefined.
If the robust second hand LDV Convoy sounds like your kind of van then the next stage is to find out about insurance. You can find the van insurance deals to suit you at Powerseeker by using the comparison quote system. The panel of insurers should respond to your quote form by issuing lots of quotes online offering many options and premium amounts.
