Driving While Uninsured and Speeding
Make sure you're insured if you're caught speeding
Scenario:
It came to our attention that a young lady who had recently passed her test had been caught speeding by a GATSO camera. Ok we thought tell us your story!
Hannah we'll call her to hide her identity was caught doing 45mph in a 30mph limit. Hannah however was not insured for the car she was driving, she was only a named driver on her mothers car insurance policy. The car she was driving was actually her boyfriends fathers car. Her boyfriend was a named driver on his fathers car insurance policy.
To keep identities unknown we will call the boyfriend Dave. Now Dave being naive thought that because Hannah was insured on her mothers policy that she would be automatically covered to drive his fathers car.
Not so! It turns out that Daves father will either have to take the wrap for the three points and the £60 fine for the speeding ticket or tell the police that an uninsured driver was in control of his car while speeding.
So what is he going to do? He actually did nothing as the permission was given to his son to look after the car so he let Dave take responsibility. As Dave was not driving and Hannah was, Hannahs' mother very kindly took the three points and declared that she was driving Daves' fathers car.
The moral of this true story is:
Trust the person you are lending your car to and make sure they are fully covered by insurance.
Respect the person who has lent you their car, drive it responsibly and do not let others drive it without the owners permission.
Do not drive a car if you are or you think you are uninsured.
Powerseeker does not agree in any way, shape or form to lie to the police and corrupt the law. This is a true story and happens every day.
Make sure you use your head when allowing others to drive yours as even if they are insured they could still cost you money and possibly land you in trouble with the law.
