Apparently there has been even more information released today about the rises that are expected to be brought into force by specialist and general taxi insurance providers in the coming month or so. It has been rumoured that taxi insurance specialists were about to put up their premiums before but several providers have now confirmed it. There are several reasons for this change in premium rates and it will affect every taxi driver, no matter how clean your record is.
One of the main reasons for the increase in taxi insurance is the level of inflation, which is of course on its way up right now. It is getting more and more expensive to run any car and the expenses that are being incurred by the insurance providers will be passed on as a result. All drivers should expect to see significant rises this year though so prepare to compare at Powerseeker!

Driving a taxi is a huge responsibility, as all taxi drivers are fully aware. It is also not the safest of jobs from time to time but it is a vital one. Despite that, some taxi drivers are cutting corners in the recession and putting their passengers’ safety and their low taxi insurance premiums in jeopardy. According to recent research, some drivers are leaving essential maintenance and thus are not keeping their taxis in top condition.
No matter what vehicle you drive, it is important to make sure that you regularly maintain it to ensure that it is fit for purpose and will not cause any accidents as a result of bald tyres, loose nuts and bolts, worn brake pads or anything else that may cause damage. Taxi insurance premiums only stay low for those that make an effort with their vehicles so make sure that you are one of them.

Out of curiosity and sheer boredom last night I started a little investigation. I had been looking for insurance news but nothing seemed to be forthcoming so I decided to create my own. If it works for the newspapers, it can work for me! I typed “women’s car insurance” into a search engine and came up with several specialist providers. Each of the specialist providers seemed to offer the same sort of policy and, after checking, many are underwritten by the same general (not women’s) insurer. The big ones though are part of a larger group rather than an affiliate of.
However, mainstream insurers, according to the sponsored results for the most famous search engine in the world, now offer womens car insurance as a specialist product. As such, you absolutely have to compare when your car insurance comes up for renewal. How else are you going to get the best deals?

Most people have heard of temporary or short term car insurance at some point in time, although few drivers may have knowingly used it. Many cire hie businesses have temporary insurance on their cars should you choose to rent one out. Well, even if you have heard of temporary car insurance, you may not have heard of temporary van insurance. Yes, you can get van insurance for any period of time up to 28 days to suit your needs.
There are only a handful of providers offering this type of van insurance at the moment but, as a result of the success of the trials, this is likely to change pretty quickly. Either way, temporary insurance for a van can provide a cost effective option if you are hiring one for a specific purpose or even if you are sharing a van with someone else. I wrote a blog on this topic a month or so ago but it seems to have disappeared so here goes again! Right now, the average driver has a real pain in his or her backside… bank balance… and anything else that can be damaged by the increasing number of potholes on the road. We all know why they are there, thanks to coverage on the news of the adverse weather. However, the councils do not have an adequate budget to sort it out. That is not to say that you have to jeaopardise your claim to cheap car insurance though.
You can avoid claiming on your cheap car insurance by choosing to claim from the local authorities if any damage is done to your car instead. You have to take photos of the damage, the pothole as and when the issue occurs and also get a garage report. However, if you can prove the pothole did the damage then you can put in a council claim instead.

As everyone probably knows, tomorrow is the start of the new tax year in the UK and that means a brand new financial start for businesses everywhere. If you do not have your own business then you might not think that it means anything but it is a fresh start and a fresh opportunity to get your finances in order. The first place you can begin to look at it as that is your home insurance.
Home insurance is a very important area of your finances to update every year and there is no better time than the start of the new tax year. Go around your home and make an inventory of everything you own and its value. You should then compare the value to the amount of cover on your home insurace policy to make sure it is sufficient. if it is not then update it but always make sure that you are completely covered annually.
