Over 80s Struggle For Cheap Car Insurance

A recent investigation into the availability for cheap car insurance for the elderly has revealed shocking, and also frankly disgusting, results. Age Concern and Help The Aged commissioned the research and found that the majority of drivers over the age of 80 could not get an insurance policy to cover them at all, with the majority over 65 having serious problems getting policies with low enough premiums to fit into their budget.

This is an absolute disgrace, especially when you realise that some of the cheap car insurance refusals for the elderly come from some of the largest insurance providers in the UK. Now that this discrimination has been revealed then there may be some changes within the cheap car insurance industry, especially given that it means some will be restricted in terms of what they can do with their lives. Everyone deserves a chance to be insured regardless of age, unless healt problems get in the way, so spread the word.

Home Insurance And Neighbourhood Watch

If you have been with the same home insurance provider for years then the likelihood is that you have no idea what an application for a brand new policy looks like and you may well find that there are a few things on there that surprise you. One of them is a question concerning your local area. More specifically, it is a question as to whether or not your home is in a neighbourhood watch area.

If your home is in a neighbourhood watch area then you will find that your home insurance premiums will be reduced on those that you would be offered should you live outside of a neighbourhood watch area. The idea is that it gives you more security and reduces the chances that your home will be broken into so you absolutely have to check out the availability of home watch groups within your area and make a saving if you can.

We all know that performance cars are highly tuned and primed things. They have a fine balance about them that sets them head and shoulders above the other cars on the road. As such, you absolutely have to consider performing MAS at some stage durin this week or else risk your performance car insurance in the coming months.

So what is MAS? Well, I put together the acronym because its easy to remember for all performance car drivers out there. Maintenance After Snow is absolutely essential for all drivers following the awful weather we have been having but it is more important for performance cars because the bad weather can have dire implications.

Motorbike Insurance And Ice

Most people will not want to even go out in the weather that we are currently having but I was reminded that this maxim does not apply to all individuals out there when I looked out of the window this morning to see the guy that lives over the road skidding off his bike as soon as he moved off the drive. He will not be happy with his motorbike insurance premium next time!

Motorbike insurance is expensive enough as it is but if you chance going out on your bike in this weather then you could be looking at increased premiums next year. The alternative is to pay any repair bills that come your way providing that there is nobody else involved in an accident of course. Then there is your health. My advice – leave your bike at home for now and look into alternative transport. After all, your life is more precious than one bike journey.

Home Insurance And Burst Pipes

Opening your front door will alert you to exactly how cold it is out there right now. Driving first thing in the morning will highlight just how icy it is… and worse is to come in the very near future. In fact, the Met Office has predicted very tough conditions in the near future. I recently offered home insurance advice about how to make sure that your pipe did not burst when you were away over Christmas and now it is time to deal with your home insurance if they do.

Most home insurance companies do cover burst pipes on home insurance polices but you have to look at just what they cover. Some only cover the damage to contents and the building itself but not the pipes. Emergency cover policies do cover this so just check over what you already have before you need to use it.
