Yes, this is yet another post about the cost of driving for young drivers. Although young drivers insurance high costs have always been a problem for those under the age of 25, the other related costs have driving have been manageable… until now. Young drivers car insurance is the least of many drivers’ worries at the moment. With unleaded petrol costing an average of 136.61p a litre and diesel costing an average of 140.94p a litre, there has been a 10% increase in petrol costs since the 1st January 2011. It is no wonder then that 82% of motorists say that they are fed up with the cost of motoring today.
As young drivers insurance has gone up and petrol costs have risen, those drivers in their teens and early 20s have had their budgets stretched to breaking point. Pair that with rising road tax levels, the establishment of toll roads and hazards that cause damage to cars, such as potholes, and many young drivers will even struggle to get onto the road at all.
So how can you cut driving costs? Well, the first point is to save as much money on young drivers car insurance as possible. Check a variety of general insurance policies as well as specialist young drivers insurance before taking out one to make sure that you have the best possible deal. Whilst you should not scrimp on the features you need, you may want to remove a few non-essentials to reduce costs as far as possible. It is also worth thinking about the car you have because if it is modified or located outside of the lowest few car insurance groups then it stands to reason that you will have to pay more. Getting a different car that is not that powerful and maybe even not that fashionable will cut costs for you in no time.
Some drivers can rely on their parents for help but regardless of whether you can or not, you should look into the possibility of alternative young drivers insurance too, such as pay as you go insurance. You pay for each mile you drive under this type of policy so you can cut costs by reducing your mileage. This will also cut your petrol costs down too. Speaking of which, you can also reduce petrol costs by making sure that you have nothing in the car that you do not need. A full boot equals an empty wallet. Unfortunately, there is little you can do about the potholes and other problems that cause damage to the car but by saving money in other areas any repairs you need will be affordable rather than pushing your budget over the edge.

News broke of exorbitant young drivers insurance rates years and years ago now but it never fails to amaze me just how much news car insurers make in this area. A recent story reported that one young driver was quoted a ridiculous £27,000 for his young drivers car insurance. This begs one question over and above all others – why bother quoting at all when there is no way that most young drivers can pay that?
The vast majority of quotes for young drivers are around the £2000 to £3000 mark and so are usually in excess of what the cars most newly qualified drivers have are worth. That is bad enough and offers an explanation as to why it is necessary to shop around. Comparing car insurance can save most young drivers a small fortune so make sure that you check out your options before you settle for any quote.

Did you know that one reason why young drivers insurance is so high these days is the no win no fee compensation culture that exists in the UK today? Most people don’t and of course there are many other reasons why young drivers car insurance is so high. However, it really has contributed to the price hikes in recent years and this, in turn, has led to significant troubles for young people who just want to get out on the road.
There is some good news though – the government has recently announced that it is going to reform the system so as to ensure that people will not be able to make fraudulent claims and will have to prove that injuries are genuine to a far greater extent than they do now. As such, you might find that some insurance premiums become more affordable in the coming years.

I have just seen an advert for young drivers car insurance on TV and was quite surprised to see that it went into absolutely no detail at all as to what the policy offered. This may not come as a shock to those of you that have young drivers insurance because you probably know very little about the policy you have taken out but it is time that young drivers started taking the advantage back. It is time that you started making the absolute most of your policy.
Do you know what your policy covers? If not then read the small print now so you can see exactly what you have and what you need. For example, do you have breakdown cover in place? If not then it may be something to look for next time. Using a comparison site can make this a whole lot easier because it will enable you to quickly check the strengths and weaknesses of each policy.

Did you know that car insurance has gone up by an average of 33% in the last calendar year? Yes, that includes policies that have not been claimed on and means that it has essentially risen by more than 10 times the level of inflation. However, there is one word that is of more importance than the others in that sentence – average. Some groups have barely seen their premiums rise at all but one has seen theirs rise more than most and that is the group covered by young drivers car insurance.
Young drivers insurance has undoubtedly shot up in cost and for no good reason other than it is traditionally the most expensive group becuse of the lack of experience that young drivers have. However, although this may be unfair, there are steps you can take to lower your premiums. For example, choosing a car in the lowest insurance group or selecting pay as you go insurance will save you money. Look into it because the level of some premiums are undoubtedly unfair.

Up early this morning and watching breakfast TV, I saw an advert for a well known insurance company that stated that older drivers deserved lower car insurance premiums on merit because they are more careful drivers. I don’t know about you but I don’t necessarily agree with that. I do believe that people in their 50s and 60s are more likely to take more care on the road as a result of the way in which they were taught to drive in addition to the fact that they have more experience but should young drivers be penalised just becuase of their age?
I know some 17 and 18 year olds who pay extortionate young drivers car insurance premiums and yet are amongst the safest drivers I know on the road. They take their time, drive within speed limits and do exactly as they have been taught and yet their young drivers insurance does not recognise this, only their age. Well, 2011 is the year to take control and examine your options, whether pay as you go or otherwise, to get better premiums.

Did you know that just over a third of all deaths on the road are young drivers under the age of 25? If you did not then you may be surprised at these figures, but then it does make sense in the context of premiums offered via young drivers car insurance. This is why many believe that the rules of the road are in need of reform and research released just a few days ago has demonstrated that this has the backing of over 75% of drivers.
The proposals would see learners learning how to drive for at least a year to give them more experience on the road with a view to reducing accidents. It would certainly solve a few problems on the road but whether it would ensure the young drivers are sensible enough to obey all road laws and not drive recklessly remains to be seen. In addition, it is doubtful that it would lower young drivers insurance premiums, although saving lives has to be of paramount importance instead.

Young drivers insurance is well known for being one of the most expensive car insurance products out there at the moment. Young drivers car insurance has also cause quite a lot of furore in recent months as a result of the outrage that has been expressed by individuals and companies alike. People are sick and tired of premiums going up but the problem is that it makes no difference. You absolutely have to have insurance to be legal on the road but the level of premiums is jeopardising the amount of time that learner drivers and newly qualified drivers can get on the roads.
The only way for new drivers to improve their driving ability and become confident on the roads is to clock up driving hours and now you can without spending a fortune. There is now a daily insurance product available for individuals that want to experience driving without spending a fortune so keep looking around and you will find bargains out there.

Someone recently made a comment on one of my previous posts about young drivers insurance and I felt the need to share and discuss it:
“The car insurance for learners is expensive. They should change it for more young people could afford to drive and practice.”
This young drivers car insurance quote is a common one because many people feel that young drivers insurance is over-inflated. They believe that young drivers should not have to pay those premiums and that insurance companies are exploiting them. However, there is more than enough data and statistics around to prove otherwise. There is no way to tell which young people will be good drivers but they are, as a group, more susceptible to having an accident so insurers would be foolish to keep premiums down.
However, the guy behind the quote has it wrong. Insurance for learners is often not as expensive as for those that have just passed their test because they have to be supervied. Getting such a policy can then help to keep future premiums down so looking for such a policy is not a bad idea.

In the past few days, I’ve written a few posts on England, the World Cup and car insurance but this one is perhaps the most important for young drivers insurance premiums and, in fact, young drivers’s licenses as well. It is a well known fact that any infringement shortly after passing your test could lead to your license being revoked. However, if you have been passed a couple of years then you should still steer clear of problems if you want your young drivers car insurance to remain at the present levels.
The one and only point to make here is that you should never drink and drive. This is especially important today given the police will be pulling cars over after World Cup games and performing routine checks. Even a drop of alcohol may be too much so avoid drinking and driving at all costs.
