Now I know how the title of this article may appear but it really isn’t as it seems! Taxi drivers don’t drink alcohol on the job because it’s more than their livlihood is worth but what about tea, coffee, water or any other drink you may have without alcoholic content? As your taxi is effectiovely your office you’re entitled to a drink, right? Not when you’re on the road you’re not!
The government will soon be bringing in measure by which you automatically get points on your license if you are caught so much as sipping your morning coffee on the road. This could spell serious trouble for your taxi insurance because it could drive it up as much as a speeding offense would. As such, it will be necessary to pull over to take a swig of water in the coming years. Keep your eye out for news of this change. It may not enter law but if it does then you should be prepared for it.

Taxi insurance can be readily accessed online today and anyone looking to drive a public or private hire vehicle can take it out. However, did you know that breaching your taxi license can render your taxi insurance invalid? Technically you need a license to operate your taxi in a given area and losing that means that you can no longer drive a taxi for a living. Similarly, if you can no longer drive a taxi for a living because you have no license then your taxi insurance is no longer valid. If you take your car off the road then this is fine but if your vehicle is stolen then it can cause an issue.
The only way to ensure that you do not face insurance issues is to ensure that your taxi license remains intact and, should it expire or be declared invalid, you switch immediately to regular insurance to protect your interests.

Taxi insurance is widely available right now given the fact that many mainstream providers are starting to offer it. More people are starting to look into the possibility of driving a public or private hire vehicle as a result of the credit crunch and rising unemployment. If you are one of those people then you may be interested to know that only certain vehicles are eligible for taxi insurance. Furthermore, it varies from policy to policy.
Although you should look at the small print before taking out a policy, this is particularly important in taxi insurance cases because not all vehicles will be in there. For the most part, it covers saloon and estate cars, minibuses and MPV’s, executive vehicles (most of which are luxury cars) and some specialist policies also cover motorbikes for city use. The latter is not common on a general policy so check out your options

Taxi insurance is considered to be a blanket type of insurance by all of those individuals that do not own or drive a taxi and have no experience in the industry but if you take a quick look at the insurers that offer taxi insurance then you will realise that this is not the case. If you are looking for taxi insurance then you might like to see your options in print first and indeed you can.
There are various types of policy for taxis out there including, but not limited to, the following: first time taxi drivers, experienced taxi drivers, short term taxi drivers, taxi drivers that have been banned or have excessive points totals, taxi drivers under 25 years old, reformed accident prone drivers and specialist public vehicle drivers. The latter refers to limo and hummer drivers. As you can see, you have a massive choice and can choose the one that is best for you.

If you own a taxi business then trying to obtain taxi insurance can be an absolute nightmare if you have to get it for the fleet rather than for individual cars. This is largely because you have to insure different drivers with different records on the road and all for a premium that represents value for money. As such, few mainstream insurers actually provide this level of cover so you may have to go to specialists.
Insuring individual cars is not always the best idea when you are trying to keep overheads low and maxmise profitability so your best bet is actually talking to an expert that can help you to locate the best deals and the best discounts. Insuring a fleet can be a headache on account of all the details you have to offer up but with a helpful voice on the end of a phone and computer, you can get your fleet and your business interests protected in no time!

Driving a taxi for a living does have its perks, like variation in your daily work life, but there are also problems associated with driving all the time. One of those is the risk of getting penalty points on your license. Very few taxi drivers have full clean licenses on account of the sheer number of speed cameras out there today and police patrols. If you are one of the taxi drivers that has points on their licenses then you may find that you have to pay more for taxi insurance. However, this need not be the case.
First of all, you should always make sure that your taxi insurance provider knows when your points have expired, which is 3 years down the road. This will lower your premiums when renewal time rolls around. Of course, avoiding speeding is also a good idea but then anyone can get caught out these days. Be sure to declare all points to make sure that your premiums are accurate and your cover is valid as not doing so could cost you a lot more.

How would you feel if you found out that the taxi you got home last weekend after a Saturday night on the tiles was not legal on the road? How would you feel if said taxi was involved in an accident that caused you physical harm and yet there was no policy in place to protect you? Your reaction to both questions proves just how important taxi insurance actually is. All public service vehicles have to be insured but it means just as much to the passengers as it does to the driver in terms of the protection offered.
Taxi insurance is offered by numerous providers but most tend to be specialists in the field given just how good cover has to be in order to make sure that the business interests of a taxi company are covered. However, it is also necessary to save money on cover to make sure that business remains profitable so be sure to get a range of quotes to see just how much you can save.
